Understand DNS propagation
Why a website may look different after a DNS change.
Step by step
- DNS resolvers cache records for their configured time to live (TTL). Updating a record does not immediately clear every cache.
- Confirm that the change was made at the authoritative DNS provider and that the domain uses the intended nameservers.
- Compare the apex domain and www records. Avoid repeated changes while troubleshooting.
- Check from another network or resolver. Clear local DNS/browser caches when appropriate.
- Send support the domain, records changed, time of the change, and any error message if the problem persists.
